Description

Produced since 1986. Just shy of 1800 feet in elevation, in a small bowl on the western edge of the Mayacama mountains lies the original Kistler planting. Thirty year old vines grow dry farmed in deep red volcanic ash, producing a wine with an intense sense of the mountain heritage of the delicate stone fruit that is lifted, like its McCrea cousin, yet firmer, and with a stronger core and added layers of richness.

RP 94-96+ pts

With a production of 21,780 bottles, the fabulous 2004 Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard is reminiscent of a top vintage of Mt. Eden Chardonnay with its floral, honeysuckle, mineral, and buttery fruit notes. It also reveals notions of roasted nuts, orange blossoms, and lemon oil as well as stunning concentration and definition.

Cellar Tracker 2011 94 pts.

Bright gold color. Aromas of lemon custard, vanilla, tropical fruits and acacia flowers. Ripe but highly focused fruit in the mouth with great depth and length and beautifully integrated oak. This quintessential California chardonnay was both powerful and elegant.
