All reviews rate this vintage highly. excerpts from one example of tasting notes for a 1982 magnum tasted in 2017 say;

'This medium golden Champagne is something to behold. From the get-go, the wine's active tiny bead belies its age. The youth of this particular bottle is supported by the lack of oxidation and the freshness of its pear, lavender, peach, shortcake and marzipan aromas. Full-bodied, crisply acidic and with a mouth-coating, creamy mousse, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose and stays dense in the middle. Closing with impressive length and vibrancy, this goes beyond classic and is very near perfection. Well-cellared magnums should show nicely for at least another 5-7 years. Drink now-2024.'
