Description

A fabulous cask strength expression of Linlithgow aka St Magdalene, this was part of the Diageo super premium 'Special Releases' from 2004. Beautiful grassy, fruity Lowland malt whisky with real depth.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
The nose is quite full and rich. There are notes of juicy berry fruits and the liqueurs made thereof: kirshwasser, fraise des bois and maraschino. There are some notes of citrus with malty barley and a touch of woody oiliness. The charred oak notes develop with hints of winter spice. The palate is quite full and well-balanced. There are notes of damson jam and more of those fruit liqueurs. Rubbed petals emerge with a fruity sponge character and granary toast with honey and a little crème de cacao. The finish is long and quite dry with a hint of orange peel.
