Description

"Coffee, blackberry and tanned leather on the nose. Full-bodied, with soft and round tannins and a decadent fruit character, with hints of tar. Complex and fascinating. Drink now."
92 points - James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2009

Cellar-Tracker.com community tasting notes average of 92.8 pts. and median of 93 pts. in 5 notes.

"Tasted by winenuts on 10/31/2009 & rated 93 points: wonderful wine, open at 5.30 in decanter and drink it at about 9.30,very smooth and delicate. Just have too many wines in this great evening and can not taste this good wine intensively. Will try to get some more, to obtain a more detail note. colour is very good, good balance and nose. herbs and leather taste but not strong. (1324 views)

Tasted by noppakit s. on 1/3/2008 & rated 93 points: Strong scent of wonderful cassis like Ch.Latour, after 2 hours, it's getting more soft, elegance fruits combined, very nice nosing, seductive too. Medium-bodied, contrast from the huge smell but acceptable. Very charming and delicious. Lovely long finished. Well-made wine !!! This wine is always very good drinking, the 1994 is nice too. 89-90/100 (1656 views)

Tasted by Anonymous on 11/5/2007 & rated 96 points: It's not very often I get the opportunity to taste a wine like this, so forgive the effusiveness, but to coin an Ericism "OMFG!" This was a Magnum, decanted at least an hour before serving, possibly more, but I wasn't there for the grand opening. Considering its nineteen years, the colour was still deep pure claret - hardly a hint of its true vintage. On the nose, a strong manure / farmyard initially, giving way to mellowed strong cheese, and finally a warm raisiny depth. Initial taste was mindblowingly good, still in perfect balance, and a length that seemed like I wouldn't need another sip all night. Sadly, I had to leave early so didn't get to experience the wine evolve beyond the first glass. Either way, there's much life in this old dog yet, so maybe, if I'm very lucky, I'll get to taste it again in another 19 years. (Served along-side Coche 2003, preceded by Cristal 2000.) (1828 views)"
