Malvasia delle Lipari Passito DOC 2014 (Sweet Wine)- Salvatore D’Amico 0.500ml
Arrow

Description

ORGANOLEPTIC EXAM: Bright and intense amber to the eye. It is characterized by a very large olfactory amplitude, with a bouquet made up of hints of dried apricot and syrup, with references to quince, dried figs and aromatic herbs, and aromas of undergrowth. The mouth has evolved and rich, characterized by a fresh and savory contrast and a distinctly sweet tone, which however is not cloying, but invites you to drink.
The Malvasia Passito d’Amico is made of 100% of Malvasia delle Lipari. The vineyard is located in Contrada Valdichiesa, 350 meters a.s.l facing west. The harvest is totally manual duo the delicate grapes status. The Malvasia PAssito d’Amico is vinified by pressing the grapes dried for 2 weeks on the sun, reaching a gradation of about 32°. After the vinification, the wine is matured in acacia and steel barrels for about 2 years and then aged for 4 months in bottle before release. The wine is inserted in the projects “Interpretations” and “Wines of the Mediterranean Minor Islands” and obtained with organic farming grapes certified by ICEA.

“I have always been inspired by two very important cornerstones: tradition, which respects the territory of the island for over three generations, using and working exclusively local resources without altering its integrity, and the high quality of the products, following the philosophy of my grandfather and my father I produce a limited number of bottles, in order to be able to carry out the traditional procedure with a careful control in all the processing phases, starting from the selection of the grapes and without adding yeasts to the finished product. ” – Salvatore d’Amico

The Salvatore d’Amico wine is one of the oldest on the island of Salina and is a small family business operating in the Municipality of Leni. Over the years, the land cultivated in the vineyard has been gradually increasing from an initial hectare, from which the entire production of the family farm came, to three hectares. The planting of new vineyards has required a lot of effort due to the morphology of the land, which has made the construction of terraced plants particularly laborious by restoring old dry-stone walls, along which the caper plants grow wild. From the vineyards the company obtains four real oenological pearls: the Malvasia delle Lipari D.O.C, the Tenuta Ruvoli a Salina Rosso I.G.T., the Tenuta Valdichiesa a Salina Bianco I.G.T. and the Léne a Salina Bianco I.G.T., all fine wines, to be tasted directly in the farm, perhaps after visiting the characteristic winery and the vineyards from which they come.
