Description

The best Australian winemaker in Burgundy. These are wines to be drunk and enjoyed, but they are not without sophistication. Drinking exceptionally well now. Stored in an underground cellar since they were acquired directly from the producer.

2019: "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from "lots of little bits," to use Haisma's parlance. It contains 50% whole bunch, but you actually cannot feel the stems at all, just black cherries and blueberry fruit. The palate is well balanced with slightly chalky tannins, fine energy and a brisk, focused finish with a touch of tea leaf. (Drink between 2022-2032)". Neal Martin, 90-92 points.

2018: "The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from Croix des Champs and La Justice and contains 50% whole bunch. It has a lovely bouquet of joyful black cherry and raspberry fruit with more mineralité than the Volnay Les Echards. The balanced palate supplies crunchy red fruit, a fine bead of acidity and a vibrant, well-structured finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2022-2032)". Neal Martin, 90-92 points.

2016: "One new cask out of eight. Lots of whole bunch, 45-50%. From Croix des Champs east of the RN74 and La Justice. Wrong side of the road, supposedly. But viticulture counters that. Big and bold with a hint of oak on the end. Sweet and friendly. Chewy finish but it should be a cheerful friend in the medium term. Very bright fruit. Chalky finish. (Drink between 2020-2026)". Tamlyn Currin, 16+ points.
