Description

The lot consists of two bottles of Nebbiolo wine from older vintages:

One bottle of 1990 Roagna Barbaresco Riserva.
One bottle of 1991 Aldo & Riccardo Seghesio La Villa Barolo.

1990 was an exceptional year for Barbaresco and both the wines have been kept in perfect storage conditions since purchase:

"1990 is a magnificent vintage in Piedmont,with aromatic wines of extraordinary richness,high glycerin,and alcohol and spectacular intensity.Italian producers believe that the 1990 Piedmontese wines will be considered along with 1971 and 1947 as one of the finest vintages for Piedmont,following World War Two.High praise indeed!"

1991 was not a particularly good year in Barolo,but Decanter magazine picks out Seghesio as being one of the best producers in that vintage.

"The best of an indifferent bunch in Barolo were: Altare,Clerico,Conterno-Fantino,Paolo Scavino,Seghesio and Roberto Voerzio".
