Description

Olivier Leflaive previously managed Domaine Leflaive with his uncle and cousin before starting his own negociant. O. Leflaive wines are held in high regard, and I have always found their wines to be of consistently high quality--this seems to be echoed by voters on winearena.io

Their 2012 Meursault were made from vines averaging 30 years, 70% destemed grapes and first aged for 4 months in steel tanks then 100% oaked (20% new) for 13 additional months. Contrary to the drinking window on the back label, I think these are in fact drinking at peak with a good mix of apple, nutty, creamy and tertiary notes. These have several years of good drinking left. Village level white burgs from good producers tend to have their longevity underestimated.

2012 turned out surprisingly good for white Burgs. A challenging year that produced very low volumes of Chardonnay, but the vintage ended up turning out wines that were very good.

This bottle is in mint condition, ullage at the very top. Stored professionally since purchase as a case from wine society. This bottle has an average listing price of £106 IB according to WS as of April, 2024.
