Comments as follows:

Robert Parker, erobertparker.com (92/100 points)

"Penfolds - iconic 2003 Grange is Shiraz blended with 3.5% Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra. It was aged for 15 months in 100% new American oak. Opaque purple-colored, it offers up aromas of cedar, cigar box, leather, Asian spices, and blueberry. On the palate it is layered but a bit short on depth and grip with only moderate length. It will evolve for 5-7 years and drink well from 2014 to 2030".

Winemaker comments by Peter Gago - Penfolds Chief Winemaker

"COLOUR Deep red

NOSE Captivating, complex, complete. Unravelling aromatics unfurl with air - blue fruit notes entwined with barrel ferment and maturation elements; nothing singular, always in tandem. Sweet soy, cola and quince paste high notes escape from an ethereal layer (aniseed, fennel and fresh treacle ginger pudding) wafting above.

PALATE Dark and liqueur chocolate, laced with Moroccan spices. An underlying tar/graphite blackness is lifted by derived fruit/quince pie flavours - a few years earlier they may have been more brashly varietal and elemental. Pronounced tannins sweep across the palate, although they are certainly part of the wine, never obtrusive. Long, layered and compelling, this wine is at the spicier end of the Grange spectrum"

The 7th edition of the Rewards of Patience puts this Grange at it's peak between 2016 and 2030 and that would be based on a normal 75cl bottle, Magnums are known to last far longer.

This wine was bought by me from a top UK wine merchant and has been stored at 11 degrees ever since. It comes in it's original wooden Magnum presentation box.

Most wine merchants are asking £350.00 upwards for a standard 75cl bottle of Penfolds Grange and up to £500.00 for the 2008 - you cannot buy a magnum of Penfolds Grange in the UK for under £650.00. This one is a bargain and is priced to sell.

Postage is £15.00 by Parcelforce 48.

Payment by bank transfer or cheque raised against any UK based bank or cash upon collection if you live in the North West region. I can also accept Paypal, but will charge an additional 4% to cover their fees. Please state if you wish to pay by Paypal and I will add the 4% to the final invoice.
