It is a gentle giant, with no hard edges and profound levels of rich, concentrated black fruits nicely meshed with smokey, spicy new oak. Given its sweetness, opulence and lush personality, it can be drunk through 2012" 97 Points

1994 Alion:

Dark red. Warm, complex aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, lead pencil, tobacco, loam and smoky oak. Silky, rich raspberry and currant flavors given shape and grip by sound, ripe acidity. Quite laid-back and youthful today, but harmonious from the outset. Roast coffee and loam notes complement the berry fruit. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins and excellent persistence. A return to form following the green '93.
