Description

2 x Mount EDELSTONE lowest uk price is £66

"The magnificent 2001 Mount Edelstone (100% Eden Valley Shiraz) boasts a dense purple color in addition to a gorgeous perfume of blackberry liqueur, white flowers, and toasty, subtle wood. Underbrush, pepper, and licorice also make an appearance. With great intensity, a multilayered, opulent personality, and plenty of structure, tannin, fruit and extract, this beauty should be cellared for 2-3 years, and drunk over the following 10-15." eRobertParker.com
“Licorice, spice, red cherry/berry fruit and plum; good intensity, depth and length ripe tannins.” James Halliday
“Rich, ripe and gooey, bright with plum and spice flavors that ride over firm tannins, shaded with tar and pepper notes on the long finish. Has depth and plenty of expression.” Wine Spectator

2 x Henschke 'Cyril Henschke' Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 x 2 Eden Valley, Australia Average WS Price (ex-tax) £96

Ruby, some age showing, clearly richer than the Abbot's Prayer. Bouquet is classically cabernet sauvignon, and remarkably Bordeaux-like. It shows great cassis-influenced berry character, almost cedary oak, and fragrant Brettanomyces at about the level of Ch. Leoville Barton. Palate is exactly pro rata, almost the delicacy of a rich-year Bordeaux, richer than the Abbot's Merlot, the high alcohol seemingly well-hidden, great complexity of browning berry, tobacco and leathery oak. This wine too has virtually no trace of euc, and can be run in Bordeaux tastings. The brett level is excessive for techno-winemakers, but most people will love it. Cellar 5 – 20 years. GK 02/08

1 x Henschke Keyneton Estate Euphonium (2012) - Eden Valley Average WS Price (ex-tax) £34

Second generation Henschke Paul Gotthard formed the first known brass band in the Keyneton area, with one of family members playing the euphonium. Name explained, now onto the juice: there’s just an insane amount of cassis and blackberry fruit on this Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Cabernet Franc blend (the Shiraz vines are about fifty years old). It’s obviously young and has great structure, with lovely hints of what it will become later: pepper spices, meaty notes, and citrus pith… if you can wait, that is.

1 x Henschke Johann's Garden GMS (2014) - Eden Valley, Australia Average WS Price (ex-tax) £24

A stunner. Mostly Grenache with Mourvedre and Shiraz, it’s powerful that also doesn’t lack for grace. Not as spicy as you might at first expect from those varieties, it quickly makes up the difference in structure, intensely concentrated and complex/deep/dark/plummy fruit, raspberries and blue flowers. It has a rusticity that harkens to its origins (it was initially a side project which Stephen made to drink with his uncle), things get silkier on the palate where blue plums and tangy red fruits take over.
