Domaine Schoenheitz Riesling Holder Vendanges Tardives 1998 (ALSACE)

Fully evolved and drinking well, this '98 Alsatian Riesling is a deep golden colour and shows a petrol character with lovely tropical fruit aromas and a nice rich opulant sweetness on the palate.

"Vendanges Tardives" is a specific classification for exceptional naturally rich and sweet late harvest wines which are the result of a great patience and experience.
"Holder" : is the best hillside of Wihr-au-Val for Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris. The soil composed of granite and clay, offers them their opuence, complexity and exquisiteness.
However, in the middle of the Holder, there is a rock where the soil is so poor that only the Riesling can grow but with very low yields which provide very concentrated grapes and wines.
