Description

This single malt whisky comes from the Yamazaki Distillery, Japan's oldest. The malt is aged at least 18 years and vatted. This whisky is characterized by a mature, aromatically sweet nose, a delicate sweetness that comes from its storage in sherry casks, a strong and hearty woodiness and a deep and long-lasting finish.

Yamazaki 18yo is the multi award winning whisky. It is proudly awarded SWSC Double Gold Medal in 2005, IWSC Trophy in 2006 and ISC Gold in 2007.

Suntory Yamazaki 18-year was awarded the Platinum Medal at the Beverage Tasting Institute (97 point rating: Superlative) 2006. The Beverage Tasting Institute’s judges are highly experienced, professional guest tasters who are retailers, restaurateurs, and prominent writers that are especially knowledgeable about the beverage category being reviewed. The rating system, which is based on a five band system, rates the quality of different spirits. Suntory Yamazaki 18-year was awarded the Platinum Medal and was rated as “superlative” under this band system which is the Beverage Tasting Institute’s highest honor.

Yamazaki 18 Year Old Single Malt Whisky Awarded Double Gold Medal in 2005 at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Suntory Yamazaki 18-year old was awarded a trophy at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2006. The International Wine & Spirit Competition was founded in 1969 and is the premier competition of its kind on the international stage. Its aim is to promote the quality and excellence of the world's best wines, spirits and liqueurs.


Tasting Notes from Whiskyfun (Serge Valentin)
This one was matured in sherry casks. The nose is very woody, in a nice way, with some varnish, turpentine. A beautiful balance. Some very soft tannins… Extremely oaky but masterfully crafted. The mouth is superbly balanced, with lots of orange juice and spices. Creamy yet nervous, with all sorts of fruit syrups and jams. Besides, the finish is very long. I loved this one: 90 points.
