Description

The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2004 Envoy GSM is a blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Shiraz, and 20% Mourvedre. Its elegant, complex perfume of peppery black currant and cherry fruit, loamy soil, resiny pine forest, and meaty aromas is followed by a complex, elegant yet substantial red to consume over the next 5-6 years."
-Wine Advocate

91-92Points Robert Parker

Deep aromatics of cassis and blackberry are enhanced by a hint of dried lavendar and a subtly note of oak. Muscular, with medium-full tannins and deep, juicy flavors of ripe black raspberry and cassis, this is a complex and layered G-S-M that demands attention. Bottled unfiltered, the wine throws some sediment; decanting recommended. Score 91pts

89pts “Deep, dark red. Raspberry, strawberry and smoked meat scents with a hint of black walnut; reminiscent of some of the new-wave Spanish wines. Inky and concentrated on the palate, and quite sweet, with dark cherry, plum and bitter chocolate flavors, along with a note of roasted coffee. Finishes fat and rich, with fairly soft tannins.”
