Description

We are very pleased to announce that we have secured a small parcel of finely crafted and beautifully expressive Pinot Noir from top-line Oregon winery Torii Mor. Very much in the Burgundian mould, those of you who are tired of overpriced and under fruited Pinot will find these irresistible. Don't just take our word for it though - Hugh Johnson's Wine Guide rates the Estate as 3* (out of 4), putting them in the league of many top Burgundy growers. Alan Meadows (Burghound) is also a Torii Mor fan.

We will be offering a very limited number of mixed cases featuring seven of the winery’s reds, each of which have very individual flavour profiles, but all of which retain the elegance and poise that is the hallmark of this producer. The wines are as follows:

2 x Eola Amity Hills, 2007
Delicate and nuanced with red fruit, earth and sous-bois aromas

2 x La Culliere, 2007
Mid-weight, refined and silky tannins, full of clean Pinot character

2 x Olalla, 2007
Robust and fruity, from further south, heavier than the others, great food wine.

2 x Dundee Hills 2007
Rounded, full of dark fruit with an earthy, rich finish

2 x Chehelem Mountain, 2007
Concentrated, ripe-fruited and spicy

1 x Torii Mor "Black label," Oregon Pinot Noir, 2010
Racy and youthful, with a bright future. There's pure and elegant fruit here plus something which recently reminded several tasters of Santenay or Mercurey.

1x "Deux Verres" Reserve Pinot Noir, 2009/10
This turned out to be so good that when the winemaker tasted a barrel sample, he went back for another glass, hence ‘deux verres’. We served recently served this to number of experienced tasters alongside a 2007 Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru and the Torii Mor wine was voted the better wine, even by those who own some of the Burgundy.

This should retail at around £480, but we have just 300 cases available at a very special price of £225 IB (£300 duty & VAT paid) per dozen.

All of the 2007 wines are drinking beautifully but will also keep for longer. We expect these to sell out very quickly, especially once the first customers have tasted them!
