This may be the greatest dry Riesling ever produced in Alsace.Everything is in it,from racy acidity to great concentration of apricot,melon and spicy fruit character.This is a white to enjoy now or age for as long as you like.The only problem will be finding some,since Riesling aficionados have snatched it up around the world.(3000 cases made). 96 Points (10th Place in the Top 100 Wines 1995).


One of the classic dry Alsace Rieslings is Trimbach's Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile.The average yearly production is only 3000 cases,but it is one of the firmest and long-lived Rieslings made,often needing 3-4 years after the vintage to reveal its floral,herbal aromas and honeyed richness.Perhaps the best example of this wine,since the glorious 1983 is the 1990 Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile.It is a richer,bigger,more complete wine than the 1989 and 1988,with super-extraction of fruit and a very dry,crisp finish.Most impressively,it blossoms and opens considerably in the glass after 30 minutes of airing.This is a superb,penetrating,brilliantly focused Riesling. 91 Points.
